SUMMARY:Mel Brooks' Silent Movie
DESCRIPTION:GRPM Silent Film & Organ Concert\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nVenue:\n\n\n\nGrand Rapids Public Museum \n\n\n\n\n\nPrice:\n\n\n\nGeneral Admission: $25 \n\n\n\n\n\n\nGet Tickets \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nContent Guidance Rating:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFAM- Family Friendly\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAndrew Rogers passion as an organists has allowed him the opportunity to travel to world and share his talent \n\n\n\nAndrew serves the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor as Head Organist\, and has performed there for over ten years. Previously\, he served on staff at the Detroit Fox. Residing in Fenton\, Mi.\, he travels widely accompanying silent films\, lecturing on film scoring\, and concerts. He changed his focus entirely to music after leaving behind two other jobs: 17 years at a travel agency doing back-office accounting and 30 years of serving as an Orthodox priest. \n\n\n\nAndrew’s musical studies began with the accordion – winning local and national competitions – by playing transcriptions of classical orchestral music. He later appeared in the orchestra for productions of the Theater Department at Michigan State University where he holds his degree with honors in Psychology. While working at the Wurlitzer factory store in Dearborn\, Mi.\, he sought out the late Fr. James Miller. He studied theater organ techniques with Fr. Jim\, and accompanied him on his second tour of Australia and Norfolk Island – appearing both in joint concerts and solo engagements. He furthered his studies with Dr. Marilyn Mason through the Church Organ Studies program. Scholarships from the University of Michigan enabled him to travel on two Historic Organ Tours led by Dr. Mason covering France\, Italy\, and Switzerland – playing 58 instruments and participating in ten public concerts. \n\n\n\nIn addition to his theater organ concert and film work\, it was in 2003 when Andrew was invited to play meditation music for a local public program for Japan’s Foundation For Global Harmony. The music so transported its founder\, that he asked Andrew to create three meditation CD’s for the Foundation to help raise funds for orphanages\, hospitals\, vocational schools\, etc.\, for children in SE Asia. It led to trips across the U.S. including Hawaii\, along with five trips to Japan and a trip to Myanmar – performing both in solo events\, in duet with a noted Japanese violinist\, and performances as keyboardist for The Global Harmony Band. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n Get Tickets \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenting Sponsor\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nUnderwriting Sponsors: \n\n\n\nMichigan Arts and Culture Council

Will you be blown away by the amazing talent or brought to tears of laughter witnessing a musical train wreck?   \n\n\n\nJoin us for a hilarious mix of comedy and singing with talented comedians from across the state. Her sarcasm and devilish wit are a hit with all types of audiences. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCarl Sobel\n\n\n\nWhen Carl’s dreams of being a professional rock-climber came to an end\, he turned to stand-up comedy and never looked back.  The West Michigan everyman that craves spontaneity\, Carl’s storytelling mixed with off the cuff tangents will keep you laughing at all his misadventures.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAdam Degi\n\n\n\nAdam Degi is quickly becoming one of the most sought-after two-time cancer-surviving\, bald\, white comedians with a Hungarian last name in the world. You can add fatherhood\, well-crafted jokes\, and improvisation to his repertoire. He’s been a guest on most of the comedy-based podcasts you’ve never heard of\, and he has a real knack for making your dad laugh. By the time you read this\, he’ll have a few more followers on TikTok and a few less on Instagram. The only thing that can stop him is getting cancer a third time. What if I told you it happened…AGAIN. He’s on his way to another victory\, the only way he knows how: saying things he shouldn’t in front of strangers. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMatt Cook\n\n\n\nMatt Cook is a Grand Rapids based comedian who often highlights his life as a husband\, father\, and pharmacist. His honest and self deprecating style  will make you feel better about yourself and your parenting abilities. Matt performs everywhere from the best comedy clubs to the lowliest dive bars\, and he wouldn’t want it any other way.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPatt Sievert\n\n\n\nPat Sievert is a comedian from Lansing\, Michigan.    Since 2012 he has been a fixture on the Midwest comedy scene\, he is a past winner of the Funniest Person in Grand Rapids competition\, and has worked with notable comedians like Jackie Kashian\, Jimmy Pardo and Gary Gulman.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDevarron Thomas \n\n\n\nA Detroit native but Gr Comic Devarron brings a dry comedic bend to what FEELS like a regular conversation. You never know where a punchline will land. Devarron has performed in NY\, Austin\, all over Michigan and has opened for the talented likes of Maddy Smith and Jay Mohr. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHost Matt Harper\n\n\n\nMatt Harper is a crowd favorite at venues all over the Midwest.
